Nursery growing!

Our broody French Maran has now hatched out four chicks. I can’t get a picture yet as she won’t let us near but they are all black like her and very sweet indeed! The ducklings are getting enormous and need feeding at least twice a day. We’re going to have to give some away- 12 are too many to keep. Meanwhile the gloom and rain continue and the chances for making hay are fast disappearing. In over 30 years of keeping animals this is the worst summer as the weather people keep telling us- as if we didn’t know, for goodness sake.

Wallis has settled admirably. She was a little restless last night, waking us up at 3am and 4am. Consequently we overslept until 8am- a first for us.
